make: christmas tree skirts

this is luke and mine's second christmas together and it is still just as much fun as our first one was. i love it because we get a REAL christmas tree and it makes the house smell sooo good. i can't get enough. my parents had started putting up a fake tree in the last few years and christmas just doesn't feel quite the same without a real tree. i made a fun christmas tree skirt to cover up the plastic stand we got and am sharing the details below!

meet: nancy mungcal of pretty little thieves

i stumbled across nancy mungcal's compelling work and haven't been able to take my eyes off of it sense. nancy mungcal is an amazing artist living in southern california. her pieces are mostly of girls who remind me of myself that are living in a world full of heartbreak (basically me, kinda). nancy was so sweet to talk to us and share with us. check out her answers and work below, her art is powerful and speaks for itself.

meet: chloe wilson of chloe wilson art

chloe wilson is a maker of all things. just take a peek at her etsy and you will see the variety of the mediums she works in, not to even mention her paintings and drawings that she features on her website. her skill set is so wide, but her work is so cohesive and focuses on the seemingly unimpressive. take a look for yourself and hear how chloe got here by reading her interview below.

small business saturday 2015

this year has been SO much fun doing the meet interviews and hearing from so many amazing makers and hustlers about how they are making their dreams happen. i started out doing an interview every other week, and then sometime in the summer i decided that wasn't enough and have been putting up an interview every week (minus a little break from when we were traveling in thailand). i've absolutely loved it and am so thankful for all of those kind hearts who have taken the time to share with me amongst their busy schedules -- you are all so wonderful!

i figure the best way (and most fun, for sure) to look back on all of these great makers is with our own everglow handmade gift guide! i've picked my favorite item to gift from each maker - hopefully it will give you some christmas gift ideas for friends, or maybe you'll find something you need for yourself! i will also be posting some of my favorite items to gift from my shop later this week. until then, enjoy + be sure to shop some of our friends on small business saturday!

hope you guys had a great week! it's been awhile since we've had a download, but i'm happy to finally get something made for that. i made this with a set of watercolors that i've been having fun with for the past few weeks. we're off this weekend to luke's sisters for a pre-thanksgiving thanksgiving, and then we have a friendsgiving on tuesday and then the big real deal on thursday. i couldn't be more ready to round out another with great friends and family, people that have grown to mean so much to me. here's to another great weekend, cheers!
